1 August 2020 Open call

Open Call ‘What if Lab: Unhindered participation’

For a new What if Lab, together with the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) we are looking for designers and design studios who are challenged by the question: What if… retailers think and act from within an inclusive mindset?

In the Netherlands there are about 2 million people who suffer from a visible or invisible disability and have to adapt on a daily basis because the retail environment is not always designed for them. As a result, some shops are not (easily) accessible to them. To make a change, we have to look differently. If we want to serve the most inclusive group, we shouldn’t only look at the dominant majority, but we need to start the conversation with people with disabilities. For this What if Lab we are looking for designers and design studios that want to work with an inclusive design method, collaborate with experts, and do not shy away from bringing a complex challenge back to a sustainable and applicable solution.

Is this a challenge that matches your studio and would you like to design an inclusive retail environment with impact? Click here for the complete briefing!

Besides VWS the following partners are involved: INretail, Ieder(in), MKB – NL and HEMA.
