Seeking collaborative partners for a sustainable future in indonesia!

New open call! This time, we’re not looking for designers, but for a collaborative partner. Is your organisation actively working towards making Indonesia greener, healthier, fairer, more sustainable, and/or future-proof? Do you have a challenge or complex problem that requires fresh creative perspectives? If so, we would love to collaborate with you!

The way we, as humanity, live today is rapidly changing the world. These developments have global consequences and create challenges for which no plug-and-play solutions exist. How do we move towards a sustainable society that ensures the quality of life for the world of tomorrow? To tackle this broad challenge, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Indonesia and the Dutch Design Foundation have been collaborating since 2018 through What if Labs, which brings together Indonesian and Dutch designers. The most recent edition focused on sustainable public spaces in Indonesia.

The open call

For our third collaboration, we’re leaving the subject up to you. We invite Indonesian institutes, organisations, governments, businesses, and individuals to share their urgent concerns and ambitious goals for the future. We are looking for design questions and project proposals that address sustainability in the broadest sense of the word—both environmentally and socially. Topics may include, but are not limited to, waste management, the circular economy, renewable energy, air quality improvement, water management, food security and sustainable agriculture, and sustainable urban development.

Interested? Find the complete briefing here and sign up before 15 November!

In Feburary 2025 we will hold an open call to select the relevant Dutch and Indonesian designers for your design question. The designers will have one year to develop concepts and will then present them at Dutch Design Week 2025.
